about me

It's better to do than do not...

Something I have always strived to stick to as a mantra throughout my adult life. For every reason not to do something, I think of a reason to do it, and often arrive at a point of saying this to myself.

I’m Dan, and my primary life goal is to support others’ creativity, helping them develop solutions, new ideas, and stories to achieve their goals and ambitions. But above all, I’m a geek. By traveling the world and immersing myself in different cultures, I aim to enrich my understanding of how problems are solved and ideas come to life through creative vision. In some cases, I’ve come to appreciate cultural legacies. Along the way, I collect stories to share.

Currently, I hold the position of Director of Astronomy and Science Communication at Kielder Observatory, the UK’s largest public outreach observatory. We host over 650 events annually on-site, in addition to providing extensive off-site education and external events. My role involves creatively solving issues and overseeing daily activities.

Truth be told, I’m not formally qualified for this role or any of the previous ones on paper. My experience comes from a diverse career path that led me to unexpected situations. I’ve worked in various roles in creative broadcast media and pursued my entrepreneurial endeavors, building a portfolio of experience, insight, and understanding through hands-on experience, failures, successes, and continuously pushing boundaries.

Join me on my journey across the globe as I explore various creative experiences, events, visitor attractions, and cultures. Enjoy the tales that unfold.

My Mission

To gather stories of the journeys I make to help inspire creative vision of others.

My Motto

“It’s better to do than do not”
